Brentford trying to take advantage of United’s desperation after increasing price tag
Brentford have upped their asking price for Bryan Mbeumo from £65M to £70M. Manchester United do not want to pay more than £65M. (Source: Guardian)
Gulf News verdict:
This is getting frustrating for Manchester United fans. Every club is trying to take advantage of United’s desperation. Mbeumo is a proven Premier League player, but £70 million is a lot of money.
They have to make a decision whether to move away from the deal completely and concentrate on other targets. Yes, they have signed Cunha from Wolves, but they have to add more players as well. Fans are getting frustrated with the lack of urgency shown by INEOS after United endured the worst season last campaign since they got relegated in the 70s.
Manchester United are interested in Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson. Aston Villa and AC Milan are also monitoring the situation. (Source: The Times)
Gulf News verdict:
Upon arrival of Joao Pedro from Brighton and Liam Delap from Ipswich, Nicolas Jackson has become third choice forward at Chelsea. There have been reports stating that he is ready to fight his way back to being Chelsea’s starting striker again, but Chelsea might look to offload him if the right offer arrives. However, a move to Manchester United is being talked about and I am not sure if that will materialise. He is not a clinical striker, but his overall game suits many clubs. He has enough Premier League experience and I believe Chelsea can still make use of him if he shows the right attitude. I don’t think he can lead an attack, but if you already have a striker in place, he will add value to any club. Manchester United have Zirkzee, Hojlund and Cunha in their ranks, but Jackson can even operate as one of the 10s in Amorim’s system. If the Mbeumo deal is off, they might go for Jackson.
Liverpool have opened talks with Eintracht Frankfurt to sign Hugo Ekitike. (Source: Sky Sports)
Gulf News verdict:
This is such an intriguing transfer war between Newcastle United and Liverpool. Newcastle were trying to buy Hugo Ekitike to partner along with Isak, but then the news came out that Liverpool want Newcastle’s star Swedish striker. Now Liverpool are in talks to sign Newcastle target Ekitike. But another important point is that Liverpool will only sign Ekitike if Newcastle don’t sell them Isak. It’s a fascinating transfer battle. Newcastle believe that Liverpool are trying to unsettle Isak by making it public that they are ready to table a £120m deal. Newcastle are owned by the Saudis and we will see who will win the power game here.
