China's Wang Hao clinched the Dubai Open chess title by finishing with seven points at the end of the ninth and final round in the Dubai Chess and Culture Club yesterday.

China's Wang Hao clinched the Dubai Open chess title by finishing with seven points at the end of the ninth and final round in the Dubai Chess and Culture Club yesterday.

Wang defeated seeded Grandmaster Kacheishvili Giorgi of Georgia to win the gold medal.

Grandmasters Gagunashvili Merab of Georgia, Iordachescu Viorel of Moldova, Guseinov Gadir of Azerbaijan, Zhang Zhong of China, Miroshnichenko Evgenij of Ukraine, Zhang Pengxiang of China, Anastasian Ashot of Armenia, Efimenko Zahar of Ukraine, Bu Xiangzhi of China and Solak Dragan of SCG shared the second place with 6.5 points.

Among the UAE players, FM Nabeel Saleh and Faisal Sharhan emerged as joint winners with four points. FM Ishaq Ahmad, Omar Abdul Wahab and Mohammad Al Mulla A.R. came second with three points.
