EGF event gets world ranking status

Dubai: The Emirates Golf Federation’s Order of Merit Championship will get amateur world ranking status from next year. Set for April 18-20 at an unconfirmed venue, the event will provide local amateur men’s and women’s players with the opportunity to be ranked globally.

The top players will be invited to play in the biggest amateur events in the world. Qualifiers for the championship will consist of the top 30 from men’s and women’s divisions of the 2018/19 EGF Order of Merit season. The seven-month long season will take place at 14 different clubs in the men’s division and nine clubs in the women’s. The junior division will not hold rankings points at the championship.
