Aru hits a hitch in Spain

Dubai: UAE Team Emirates’ leader Fabio Aru was dealt another hand of bad luck in Spain after crashing on a descent during Stage 17 of La Vuelta.

His misfortune struck with only 5 kms left of the race remaining, leaving little opportunity to recover from the fall.

The crash caused the Italian rider to lose more time on his GC rivals, eventually crossing the finish line 14.14 minutes behind eventual race winner Michael Woods (EF Education First Drapac p/b Cannondale) who completed the challenging course in 4 hours, 9.48 minutes.
