Dubai: Fans will have to wait for a Dubai re-match between Sania Mirza and Grand Slam winner Svetlana Kuznetsova after the Indian went down in straight sets 6-3, 6-4 to Spaniard Anabel Medina Marrigues in their first round meeting of the 2010 Barclays Dubai Tennis Championship.

Red hot following her maiden win at the Hyderabad Open in 2005, Mirza had thrown the form book out with a fighting win against Kuznetsova in their first round meeting at the Dubai Tennis Stadium five years back.

However, Jelena Jankovic had stopped the Indian's march with a convincing in the very next round.

"I have not been playing very great anyway due to the wrist injury," Mirza moaned after going down in straight sets to her Spanish opponent on Monday.

"This is not my best performance. I had my chances, but there was a lot of doubts in my mind after seeing my swollen wrist," she added.

Medina Garrigues will now meet Kuznotsova in the second round here.

Spain's Anabel Medina Garrigues returns the ball to India's Sania Mirza during the second day of the Barclays Dubai Tennis Championships.
