Schachmann wins Giro stage 18 after epic escape

Prato Nevoso, Italy: Quick Step's German rider Max Schachmann won stage 18 of the Giro d'Italia on Thursday after a 196km ride to a summit finish at Prato Nevoso.

Schachmann had been part of an escape group that opened a lead of over 14 minutes on pink jersey Simon Yates and the other contenders at the start of the final climb.
