Dubai: Rugby clubs based in Dubai have been granted subsidised access to The Sevens Stadium after the UAE Rugby Association (UAERA) struck a deal with the Emirates Group.

Eligible clubs will be able to continue to train and play at the venue without high access costs for the next four years from the start of the 2011-12 season.

"We are delighted to have entered into this agreement with The Sevens, and Emirates Group as the owners of the complex," said UAERA chairman Mohammad Abdul Rahman Falaknaz.

In previous seasons, rugby clubs have had to self-fund access to the purpose built six-pitch complex in order to train and play, whereas this agreement offers them weekly access,

Eligible clubs include the Dubai Exiles, Dubai Hurricanes, Dubai Dragons, Dubai Frogs, Dubai Wasps, Toa Dubai and Arabian Pot Bellies.

They will be allowed access for 60 games per season and up to 30 training sessions, one per week for one-and-a-half-hours. The Exiles and Hurricanes will be offered 30 training sessions for their youth sections.

"The Sevens is an outstanding complex and celebrates a strong rugby history in the region, we are proud to be part of the newly formed UAERA's first steps in their overall commitment to the game," said Jim Fitzsimons, general manager of The Sevens.
