Madrid: Cristiano Ronaldo's ankle has not improved, with the Real Madrid forward set to consult his former specialist to treat the injury.
Ronaldo, who has been sidelined by a right ankle injury for nearly one month, underwent medical scans that showed no progress on the injury that has kept him from training regularly for nearly one month now.
The Spanish club said Wednesday that Ronaldo will visit Professor Niek van Dyjk, the Netherlands specialist who treated the same ankle in 2008 when he was at Manchester United.
Madrid had been hopeful that the 24-year-old winger would be available for Saturday's derby against Atletico Madrid but it appears the injury could be more serious than originally believed.
Madrid trails Spanish leader Barcelona by one point after nine games.
