Swede Alx Danielsson created a slice of history at the Dubai Autodrome yesterday as he became the first driver to win an international race at the spanking new UAE motorsport complex.

Danielsson overcame the odds in an action packed Formula Renault V6 race to clinch his first victory in the series and a win for the SRTS team.

The story of the day however was about the title battle which is now down to two drivers thanks to third place by championship leader Giorgio Mondini (Italy). He now leads the title by 10 points from his closest rival Jenzer Motorsport's Ryan Sharp (Great Britain), who finished fifth yesterday.

The result eliminates Neel Jani (Switzerland) and Andrea Belicchi (Italy) from the title fight in Friday's race but has set the stage for a battle royal between Mondini and Sharp.

The latter has all to do and only an outright win will ensure him of dethroning the series leader who would need to finish way down the order or suffer misfortune.

Race fans can expect a showdown between these two hopefuls while the rest of the Formula Renault V6 drivers go all out to end the season with a win and taste glory as Danielsson did on an historic day for UAE motorsport.
