Ali second and Al Barwani third in SWS senior competition, Connor tops junior event
Dubai: Rami Azzam won two heats at the Sodi-W-Series (SWS) senior racing event at Dubai Kartdrome on Monday.
Azzam maintained his lead in both the races up to the finish, with Umid Ali coming second after narrowly beating Atef Al Barwani to the finish line. The trio finished significantly ahead of the rest of the field.
Dario Rubio impressed by finishing fourth and was named the best newcomer.
Alex Connor topped the points table in the SWS juniors after the four heats ahead of Oliver Walton in second and Leo Ardolino in third.
The super-final saw Walton and Connor leading for most of the race but tripping up near the end, allowing Zaid Alami to pick up the victory. Khaleb Saab also capitalised to finish second, with Connor and Walton third and fourth respectively.
The night’s heat winners included Ardolino, Walton and Connor, while Giacomo Caccia won the final.
The final round of the SWS series will take place at the Kartdrome on May 24.
