Lewis Hamilton becomes Formula One champion with victory at Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

Abu Dhabi: Lewis Hamilton has clinched his second world title following his 2008 triumph by winning the Formula One Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at Yas Marina Circuit.

The Briton made a stunning start to the race, immediately overtaking Mercedes teammate and title rival Nico Rosberg, who was on pole position ahead of second-place Hamilton.

He then held off a strong challenge from Williams’ Felipe Massa, who finished second, while the Brazilian’s teammate Valtteri Bottas was third.

Rosberg, meanwhile, reported problems with the power of his car early on and finished a disappointing 13th.
