Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao took to social media on August 12 to share throwback photos celebrating the victories that made him the only fighter in history to win world titles in eight different weight divisions.

In his post, Pacquiao reflected on his rise from flyweight to super welterweight, crediting his opponents, supporters, and faith for shaping his remarkable career.

'I look at this picture and I am reminded of the long journey God has allowed me to take. From flyweight to super welterweight… eight divisions, eight mountains to climb,' he wrote.

Pacquiao said his journey was about more than collecting titles — it was also about testing himself, learning, and growing with every bout. He paid tribute to the 'champions and warriors' he faced, acknowledging that their skill and determination pushed him to reach his peak, adding, 'Without you, this would not be possible.'

He also expressed his deepest gratitude to his faith, saying, 'Above all, I thank my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ for giving me the strength, power, and heart to keep going, even when the road was difficult.'

Closing his message, Pacquiao told fans, 'This is not just my story… it’s ours,' turning his personal triumphs into a shared celebration with his supporters and countrymen.

Pacquiao returns to top of WBC rankings

On Friday, the World Boxing Council (WBC) released its updated welterweight rankings, naming Pacquiao the No. 1 contender. The announcement followed his comeback fight against Mario 'El Azteca' Barrios in Las Vegas last month, which ended in a draw.

The top spot puts the 46-year-old in line for another world title shot and opens the door for a potential rematch with Barrios.

In a recent interview with veteran sports journalist Dyan Castillejo, Pacquiao was asked whether fans could expect to see him back in the ring this year. His answer was short but clear: “This year… in December.”

With his legacy already cemented in boxing history, Pacquiao’s renewed rise in the rankings suggests his story inside the ring is far from over.
