Tanisha, Jolywin win under-16, ladies rounds
Dubai: T.K. Jamshi shocked C.P. Shibil, the men's singles 2010 champion, at the India Club-Western Union UAE Open Badminton Tournament.
Shibil beat Jamshi in the first game 9-21, but Jamshi recovered and bounced back and beat Shibil in the next two straight games 21-17, 21-19.
In the girls' under-16 years singles, Tanisha Crasto advanced by beating Liliya Susan Philips 21-13, 21-9 to reach the quarter-finals.
In the ladies' singles, Jolywin Rodil downed Ira Sharma in two straight sets 21-9, 21-9 to make it to the quarter-finals.
As a part of Corporate Social Responsibility activity, India Club organised matches for special needs students of SNF Development Centre, Dubai.
