Honours shared in Laser regatta

Sailors from Abu Dhabi Sailing Club and Emirates Sailing Club shared the honours in the Abu Dhabi International Laser Sailing Regatta held here over the weekend.

Sailors from Abu Dhabi Sailing Club and Emirates Sailing Club shared the honours in the Abu Dhabi International Laser Sailing Regatta held here over the weekend.

With sailors from seven different nationalities taking part the Emirates Sailing Club, which has quite a few UAE national team sailors in its ranks, won two events while sailors from Abu Dhabi Sailing Club also won two events.

Ron N. Heyselaar, Commodore of Abu Dhabi Sailing Club, said the two days witnessed some very competitive sailing in great wind conditions. The event was sponsored by Ali and Sons Used Cars Division.

Andrew Hellyar, chief os the used car division of sponsors Ali & Sons, said: "We are very proud to be involved with the moment."

The results:
Apprentice Masters Class:
1. Fergus Allen (Abu Dhabi Sailing Club) 2. Cameron Davies (Jebel Ali Sailing Club).

Masters Class: 1. John Leftwich (Abu Dhabi Sailing Club) 2. Peter Tonkin (Abu Dhabi Sailing Club).

Laser Radial Class: 1. Nasser Al Omran (Emirates Sailing Club) 2. Mohammad Al-Obaidly (Emirates Sailing Club)

Laser 4.7 Class: 1. Ahmad Al Qubaisi (Emirates Sailing Club) 2. Evelien Heyselaar (Abu Dhabi Sailing Club).
