Dubai: Emirates Golf Club prodigy Khalid Yousuf is the hot favourite for the Gulf News sponsored UGA Juniors Order of Merit, when he competes in the Abu Dhabi Junior Open Golf Championship at Al Ghazal Golf Club tomorrow.

Yousuf will be aiming to consolidate his position on the top of the OOM Juniors table with a sterling performance in this event.

Red hot Matthew Turner, also of Emirates Golf Club, who has won virtually everything up for grabs on the domestic circuit, is currently placed second on the table with 24 points, two points ahead of Joel Neale of Dubai Creek Golf and Yatch Club, who takes the third place.

Strong field

Popular among the juniors for the competitive spirit and camaraderie that the events generate, this UGA tournament has once again attracted a strong field with almost all leading amateurs in the fray.

Spearheading the field, of course, will be Khalid Yousuf, who recently added the Lexus UAE National Golf Championship to his hat-trick tale of achievements.

He will be challenged by a field comprising Joel Neale and Sean Thornberry of Emirates Golf Club.
