Dubai: Sweden’s Jones Blixt got his hands on the first trophy of the week by leading his team to victory in the Rolex Pro-Am, the traditional curtain raiser for the DP World Championship at Jumeirah Golf Estates, on Tuesday.

Fittingly, it was a Rolex team of Stephane Oberer, Federic Torres, Dominique Bedel who took the honours as they combined with their Swedish professional for a score of 23 under par.

One shot behind on -22 was the Emirates Golf Federation team of French pro Romain Wattel along with amateurs Khalid Yousuf, Ahmad Skaik and Mahmoud Skaik, while Thailand’s Thongchai Jaidee led his European Tour team of Paul Collingwood, Abdul Aziz Salem and Haiyan Mujarkech to third place on -20.

Wednesday was the final practice day over the 7,675-yard Earth course before play gets under way with round one at 7.30 am on Thursday.
