Meet the most stylish golfers in the world. These guys don’t just smack the ball into the distance, they are also known to hit it out of the park when it comes to the fashion stakes. They know how to compliment their colossal golfing skills with a fine thread of classiness and panache. Here are some of our favourite style icons, players who look sharp on the course when putting for a birdie.

Rafa Cabrera Bello: Not many golfers can pull-off a red shirt like Dubai-based Rafa does on the golf course topping it off with a matching red performance cap. RCB also boasts some striking red trousers in his wardrobe, so no prizes for guessing what his favourite colour is.

Rickie Fowler: This American golf star is insta-famous for his innate style and flamboyance. Fowler loves his Puma Golf tropical-inspired Paradise shirts and just about anything that reflects his bohemian nature. With the kind of money golfers earn they can hire any stylist to dress them up. Fowler is a DIY man and proud of it.

Billy Horschel: Florida’s Ralph Lauren polo-shirt loving golfer looks dashing in most outfits even when he lands his ball in a bunker. He turned head when sporting a navy Paisley number during the Masters this year which he matched with white trousers. He might not have fared all that well over four rounds, but he still makes an impact among golf’s fashion followers.

Cameron Tringale: California’s Tringale may be a newcomer when it comes to making a fashion statement but his penchant for mixing a classic and contemporary look has earned him a decent fan following. Traditional stripes never go out of fashion for him but Tringale is also a risk-taker outside of the game as seen by his flecked shirts.

Ryo Ishikawa: Ryo has long been regarded as one of the best-dressed golfers on the tour. Unlike in the past, today’s pros like to show-off a fashion sense and Ryo is up there with the trendy types sporting bold checked trousers and T-shirts that boast elements of style. He certainly knows what works for him and commits to his Asian dress sense even if it means wearing an outlandish T-shirt or pair of slacks that most golfers won’t be seen dead in.

Doug Sanders: Sanders, who was known by the nickname ‘Peacock of the Fairways’ was one of the original style setters in the golf course. Despite being born into a poor family where his father farmed and drove trucks, Sanders had an exquisite taste in clothes. He never won a major, although he was runner-up on four occasions, but he brought an extraordinary degree of flamboyance to golf fashion that was way ahead if its time and he could be credited for setting the benchmark that many aspired to reach.

Ian Poulter: Choosing the right trousers for a golf ensemble may seen pretty easy, but not when you are Poulter, who is most often thinking outside the box when it comes to a choice of trousers. From a pair that appeared to have been made from a British flag to tartan, he’s done them all. These are just two examples of his style to consider but it takes a very brave man to turn up at a golf course for a major wearing outfits that sometimes seem like an eyesore, if you are a traditionalist.

Bryson DeChambeau: Not only does DeChambeau have a unique approach to golf with his numbers-driven game, he also has a great sense of style. The strapping Californian has made what is called a driving cap, similar to the one worn by legendary golfer Ben Hogan, a signature piece of his golfing ensemble and cleverly mixes colours for major championships and other events. DeChambeau has even joked that the cap gives him extra power just like Superman’s cape. His wardrobe consists of classy T-shirts, trousers and jumpers.

Robert Rock: Rock is another of golf’s colourful characters. The 40-year-old Englishman turned heads and made eyes pop when he turned up at a European Tour event sporting a blue and pink camouflage jumper. Needles to say he did not win many friends for his extreme choice but with camo very much the in-thing, he had his timing right. Like politicians Donald Trump and Boris Johnson Rock has a notorious hairstyle which he proudly shows off by resisting the chance to wear a sponsored cap. His locks and cap-free head shot to fame when he defeated the likes of Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods to claim the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship in 2012.

Greg Norman No list on fashionable golfers is complete without ‘The Shark’ who was known for his classic and fashion-forward style. His clothes were executed to look good and feel good. The popular Aussie, who launched his own golfing fashion line, was media savvy and he knew how to grab the headlines, both with his efforts on the course and with his clothing. A muse for many during his days at the top, Norman was adventurous but never too eccentric and that’s what made followers embrace his style.
