Briton shoots five-under 66 in third round to surge to top of leaderboard
Hilton Head Island, United States: England’s Luke Donald fired a five-under par 66 to take a two-shot lead on Saturday after three rounds of the US PGA Tour’s Heritage.
Donald went into the round in a share of fourth place behind the leading trio of K J Choi, Jim Furyk and Ben Martin, who topped the leaderboard after the storm-disrupted second round was completed on Saturday morning.
Donald, who has two runner-up finishes and two third-place finishes in his past five starts in the $5.8 million (Dh21.3 million) event, had an eight-under total of 205 going into Sunday’s final round.
“I’ve always liked this golf course,” the 36-year-old Donald said. “I’m really happy with the way I’m striking the ball. I felt like I was going to give myself a lot of chances.”
American John Huh carded his second straight 68 at Harbour Town Golf Links to move into second place on 207.
