Ross Fisher will be a satisfied man regardless of the final outcome to the Dubai World Championship this Sunday
Heading into the final stop on the European Tour, a win and the $1.25m prize will put the Englishman beyond the reach of talented German Martin Kaymer but may not be enough to see him crowned the season's top player as a second place for either Rory McIlroy or Lee Westwood will extinguish the 29-year-old's hopes of taking home the $1.5 million bonus for winning the Race to Dubai. But the world number 19 who has enjoyed a fabulous year, giving himself a chance in all four majors, insists he will be paying more attention to his game than the maths this weekend.
"So far, it's been a great season, but there's still one big tournament to finish off the year and I'd like to finish it off in style," said Fisher. "I'm just going to play and hopefully take care of business. I haven't really sat down and looked at the mathematical equations and all that stuff," he added.
"I think I'll sit back and leave that to you guys. I'm just focusing on what I'm trying to do and my priority is to play as well as I can and hopefully win this week. If it's meant to be, great. If it's not, it's still been a great year. To lead at some point in all four majors was tremendous. And obviously to get that award of leading player in all four majors, I'll remember that for a very, very long time."
