GEMS girls hold sway in schools cricket

Retain both Under-13 and Under-17 titles in Maxtalent event

Dubai: The Maxtalent Vision Cup PAN UAE Inter-School cricket tournament last week proved to be a success again with defending champions GEMS Modern Academy girls retaining their crowns in both under-13 and under-17 categories.

In the under-13 final, GEMS scored a 51-run win over The Winchester School (Jebel Ali) while in the senior age group, the holders beat New India Model School Dubai by eight wickets.

The under-17 final saw Teertha Satish of GEMS dishing out an all-round performance when she took three wickets and scored a breezy 42 of just

13 balls. Even though NIMS managed to take her wicket, but it was a little too late as GMA went on to winning the final by eight wickets.

Nargish Khambatta, GMA Principal and the chief guest who distributed the prizes, urged more schools to take part in this Maxtalent-hosted event, which is supported by the Emirates Cricket Board.

Following players won the awards in respective categories:

Under-13: Best batsman of the tournament – Misha Bhandari (45 runs)

Best Bowler of the tournament – Siya Gokhale (3 wickets)

Best player of the tournament – Siya Gokhale.

Under-17: Best batsman of the tournament – Teertha Satish (123 runs)

Best Bowler of the tournament – Kathrine Saldana (2 wickets)

Best player of the tournament – Teertha Satish
