Dubai: Walter Zenga has admitted he's working within the confines of the club, to turn Al Nasr's fortunes after their latest loss to Al Wahda at home leaves them bottom of the league with just one point from three games.
Al Wahda, starting with one overseas signing (Magrao), went ahead on 11 minutes when Al Nasr's Mahmoud Darwish failed to control and clear a tame Eisa Ahmed in ball. The error allowed Mohammad Al Shehhi, lingering on the left to shoot across goal into the right corner with ease - consequently sealing the win in the third match of the league on Saturday in front of 1240 fans.
Speaking about the need to strengthen his left and right backs, Zenga said: "The problem is I have no other solution. I think that if I have 24 players you have to work with those 24. You've known me since January I never cry about a problem I try to resolve it. I have one idea to try and work on this but I don't know if I can make it before the next game against Dubai."
Different solution
"This problem was clear against Ajman and Al Ain - we've played different players but the same issue arises. Now its time I just look for a different solution. I mentioned this problem at the start of the season. We had a player that we were focusing on to bring here but between thinking and doing, in the middle there are some things I can't control if they don't want to come here. I have to continue with what I have but more than this the team cannot do it."
Zenga added of poor professionalism: "I have Masoud Hassan on the right for one or two games he's missing four days and then he comes back ready to play. Then on the left Humaid Ali is working everyday with the police and comes to training more than tired."
"It's true to believe what's written in the table [Al Nasr bottom]. Compliments to Al Wahda they didn't deserve to win. But this thought is useless. Our side didn't find the key to score despite a good first half. One mistake gave us a negative point. Second half we kept the ball but didn't create anything. We have to continue working and I'm sure a good result will come in the future."
'It wasn't a good match'
Al Wahda coach Josef Hickersberger said: "It wasn't a good match. Both teams were under pressure as going in we both had one point from two games. You could feel there was a lot of nervousness on the field and the quality of play suffered. Fortunately we won and take three points which will be important for the coming weeks. Walter Zenga is not lucky against me in that I know he would have wanted to get more out of this game."
"I'm always happy to get a win. We've not had enough this season (including Etisalat Cup). We started well with the Super Cup but playing without eight national team players has been difficult. The squad is not as big due to injuries or suspensions. It's been hard to field a competitive squad but at least we fought hard to win today (Al Wahda's first league win) and that's a situation I'm pleased with."
