Lille, France: Lille captain and France international midfielder Rio Mavuba will be out of action for up to four weeks with a right thigh injury, the northern French club has announced.
The 30-year-old sustained a muscle tear late in the Ligue 1 0-0 draw against Montpellier on Sunday.
Mavuba, a member of the France team that took part in the World Cup in Brazil, will miss at least three Ligue 1 matches, against Nice, Bastia and Lyon, as well as a Europa League game against Wolfsburg.
Mavuba will also be unavailable for France’s two next matches, at home against Portugal on October 11 and away to Armenia three days later.
