Football: Liverpool owners complete sale to owners of Boston Red Sox after court fight

London: Liverpool says the club has been sold to the owners of the Boston Red Sox.

The 300 million pound ($476 million) takeover by New England Sports Ventures was completed Friday after a bitter court fight with the club's previous American owners.

The deal went through after owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett Jr. withdrew the temporary restraining order blocking the sale they had obtained in a Texas court. But they vowed to pursue a claim for $1.6 billion in damages.
