Dubai: Al Ahli striker Faisal Khalil looks bound for Al Wasl after falling out of favour with the Red Knights’ coach Quique Sanchez Flores.
Khalil, 29, the older brother of Olympic team striker and Al Ahli teammate Ahmad, 21, looks set to rejoin Bruno Metsu, whom he played under during national duty for the UAE, winning the 2007 Gulf Cup.
With only six league appearances last season, the older Khalil has fallen back in the ranks behind Grafite, Luis Jimenez and Achille Emana. He’s been at Al Ahli as a youth since 1996 with two league titles, three President’s Cups and one golden boot to his name.
