Cairo: Egyptian giants Zamalek have sacked their coach Ahmad Hossam, known as Mido, after losing 2-0 to arch-rivals Al Ahly in the Cairo derby.

The club, which suffered the defeat on Tuesday, also sacked football director Hazem Emam and appointed Mohammad Salah as interim coach.

Mido, who had also played with Tottenham Hotspur, was Zamalek’s star striker before retiring in 2013.

The club appointed him as coach in January 2014.
