Dubai: The final matches and awards ceremony of the first Abu Dhabi Football League (ADFL) will take place next week for all three categories of the competition.

Starting at 7.30pm at the Dome@Rawdhat, Abu Dhabi, the league features three different categories, namely Amateur Men, Corporate Men and Amateur Women.

The top eight teams from the ADFL will automatically qualify for the National Amateur Football Championships (NAFC) from May 6-14. Among the top eight teams from the ADFL the top teams from Dubai, Sharjah and Fujairah will compete in the play-off event.

Late surge

Meanwhile, Dubai Ladies Club weathered a late surge from Team Tigers before winning 5-2 in the Amateur Women's League.

Nouf Ali put the DLC team in the clear only to see Maryam Bartawi equalise for the Tigers following a goalmouth melee. The Tigers scored again to take the lead but Ali once again came to the rescue of DLC when she found the goal with a stunning shot from outside the box.

Dalal Al Qubaisi netted in the final minute to help DLC to a convincing win and move them up into second in the standings.

Reem Investments signed off on a losing note when they went down 5-3 against second-placed Etisalat.
