Dubai: Legendary pool player Efren Bata Reyes will be competing in the first Dubai 10-Ball championship slated for October, Gulf News learnt.

Hasnat Akram, Managing Director of Impulse Billiards Café by Knight Shot, said the company is in final talks about the event venue.

Akram said Reyes will be given a wildcard entry to the first Dubai open tournament in October with a prize money of $100,000.

"We are honoured to have him play. He is known as the magician, but I think he's a legend and I don't think there will ever be a player like him," Akram told Gulf News

Knight Shot is organising the tournament along with the World Pool Association and UAE Billiard Association.

The tournament will run from October 30 to November 2, Akram said.
