Stokes, Starc and Ashwin fetch huge prices in IPL auction

Meanwhile, West Indies Chris Gayle and England captain Joe Root went unsold in the first round

Dubai: The Indian Premier League Bumper sale is on and right away allrounders Ben Stokes and Ravichandran Ashwin have been sold for hefty prices.  

Australian pacer Mitchell Starc too got sold for a huge price.

Stokes went for Rs 12.5 crore ($2.4 million)  to Rajasthan Royals while Kolkata Knight Riders got Starc for Rs 9.4 crore ($1.8 million). 

Ashwin went to Kings XI Punjab for 7.6 crore ($1.5 million).

The surprise was that Twenty20’s hardest hitting batsman -  West Indies Chris Gayle and England captain Joe Root went unsold in the first round.

Shikhar Dhawan, Kieron Pollard, Ajinkya Rahane and Faf du Plessis were brought back by their respective teams.
