Palekar hammers half-century as CSS Group beat Avis Rent-A-Car

Sharjah: Bakhtiyar Palekar struck a half-century as CSS Group beat Avis Rent-A-Car by 10 wickets in the 19th Sharjah Ramadan floodlit cricket tournament for the CSS Group Twenty20 Cup at the Sharjah stadium on Tuesday night.

In another match, Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group, aided by a fine knock of 48 from Arun Pradhap, defeated Raisco International by three wickets.

Bakhtiyar smashed an unbeaten 51 off just 24 balls with six fours and two sixes in the company of Atiq who chipped in with 34 off 24 balls with five fours as CSS Group overhauled Avis Rent-A-Car's modest total off 88 for five in just 7.5 overs.

Avis Rent-A-Car, batting first, were never in control of the proceedings against a spot-on CSS Group bowlers who never allowed their batsmen to breathe freely.

Only Abuzar (25 off 37 balls) and Shani (24) offered some worthwhile resistance while others had no answer to the CSS bowlers.

Kashif took two wickets for 19 runs while Fraz, Ameer and Naeem took one each to give their batsmen a simple victory target which they achieved without any fuss.

In the other match, Raisco International, batting first after winning the toss, scored 123 for eight with Nasser (33 off 31 balls with three sixes) and Azeem (26 not out) providing solidity to the innings.
