Johannesburg: The Deccan Chargers have roped in South African bowling coach Victor Barnes to assist them for the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Barnes joined the Hyderabad team on coach Darren Lehman's request.
"Lehman asked me to join the team and help the boys and I was only glad to help," said Barnes.
Barnes worked with Harmeet Singh, R.P. Singh and S.M. Shoaib after joining the team.
"I am mainly working with the fringe bowlers. A few of them had problems with over stepping. We worked on it and things are getting better," Barnes said.
"I was impressed by the number of questions they asked. They are willing to learn and that is a positive sign. I spoke to them on areas that concern bowling at the death. It was quite a fruitful session."
Skipper Adam Gilchrist too was quite pleased with the addition of Barnes. "He brings with him a lot of experience and I am sure the boys will benefit from it," said Gilchrist.
Barnes is working to make the bowlers understand the right line and length.
