Not adhering to the policies could lead to disciplinary action.
New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has introduced strict guidelines for the Senior Men's Cricket Team to enhance discipline, streamline logistics, and foster team unity during domestic and international tours.
The guidelines cover areas such as travel, baggage limits, family visits, and team dynamics.
Travel Policy
Players must travel with the team for all matches and practice sessions. Separate travel arrangements with families are discouraged to maintain discipline and cohesion. Any exceptions require prior approval from the head coach and chairman of the selection committee.
"All players are expected to travel with the team to and from matches and practice sessions. Separate travel arrangements with families are discouraged to maintain discipline and team cohesion. Exceptions, if any, must be pre-approved by the head coach and chairman of the selection committee," the BCCI stated.
Baggage Policy
To streamline logistics, the BCCI has introduced specific baggage limits for players and support staff:
Away tours (more than 30 days)
Players: 5 pieces (3 suitcases + 2 kit bags) or up to 150 kg
Support staff: 3 pieces (2 large suitcases + 1 small suitcase) or up to 80 kg
Away tours (less than 30 days)
Players: 4 pieces (2 suitcases + 2 kit bags) or up to 120 kg
Support staff: 2 pieces (2 suitcases) or up to 60 kg
Home series
Players: 4 pieces (2 suitcases + 2 kit bags) or up to 120 kg
Support staff: 2 pieces (2 suitcases) or up to 60 kg
Any excess baggage costs will be borne by the individual player.
Personal staff policy
The presence of personal staff, such as managers, chefs, assistants, and security personnel, is restricted during tours. Exceptions must be explicitly approved by the BCCI to maintain team focus and minimize logistical challenges.
"Personal staff (e.g., managers, chefs, assistants, and security) are restricted on tours unless explicitly approved by the BCCI. This ensures the focus remains on team operations and minimizes logistical challenges," the BCCI stated.
Equipment transfers
Players must coordinate with team management for transferring equipment or personal items to the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. Any additional costs due to separate arrangements will be the player's responsibility.
Family travel policy
The BCCI has outlined a family travel policy to balance players' personal well-being with team commitments:
Eligibility: Players away from India for more than 45 days during overseas tours can have their partners and children (under 18) join them for one visit per series, up to two weeks.
Provisions: The BCCI will cover shared accommodation with the player during the visit. All other expenses are the player's responsibility.
Coordination: Visits must be scheduled at a single time, with dates agreed upon by the coach, captain, and GM Operations.
Exceptions: Deviations require pre-approval, and additional expenses beyond the visitors' period will not be covered.
Post-match team stay
Players must remain with the team until the scheduled end of a match series or tour, even if matches finish earlier. This ensures team bonding, unity, and consistent dynamics.
"Players are required to stay with the team until the scheduled end of the series or tour, regardless of whether matches conclude earlier than planned. This fosters unity and avoids disruptions," the policy states.
"Players are required to strictly adhere to these guidelines. Any exceptions or deviations must receive prior approval from the Chairman of the Selection Committee and the Head Coach. Non-compliance may result in disciplinary action at the discretion of the BCCI. This could include sanctions such as suspension from BCCI-conducted tournaments, including the Indian Premier League, or deductions from the player's retainer amount or match fees as per the BCCI Player Contract," the document stated.
