London: Umar Gul has provided Pakistan a rare moment of joy on its troubled tour of England as his six-wicket haul clinched a 23-run victory over the home side in the third one-day international.
The fast-bowler single-handedly thwarted England's chance of taking an unassailable 3-0 series lead in the five-match series after Pakistan had only set them a modest victory target of 242 on Friday.
But Pakistan's first triumph since fixing allegations emerged last month came on the day that British police handed its evidence to prosecutors to consider charges.
The four Pakistan players under suspicion were not part of the Oval victory, with three suspended by the ICC and already back in Pakistan, while the fourth player to be questioned was not in the team.
