Sharjah: Mohammad Azam of the Eurocon Alubond team claimed the first hat-trick of the Sharjah Ramadan Rufi Cup Twenty20 tournament.

Azam, who bowls left-arm spin, took three wickets for 15 runs and helped Eurocon beat Salala Malek Travels by 53 runs.

Eurocon, despite having a strong batting line up, could register only 138 runs and they won mainly due to Azam's hat-trick, which destroyed Salala team's middle order.

"I clean bowled all the three batsmen. It was possible because I maintained a good line and bowled armers," said Azam.

Salala Travels were bowled out for 85 runs.

Azam, who works for Eurocon as assistant purchaser, was one of the team's consistent performers.

"I have been playing for Eurocon for the last three and half years and I enjoyed every season.

"My skipper Shaji Ul Mulk has played a big role in my success introducing me at the right time and guiding me correctly," said Azam, who was born in Hyderabad, Pakistan, and has played alongside Test stars like Mohammad Sami, Danish Kaneria and Faisal Iqbal.

"I had represented Hyderabad in Pakistan's national tournaments and also played for Sindh University team before arriving here at the age of 22.

"I am happy that I am able to carry on playing and keep performing," added Azam, who won the best bowler award in the Ajman Cricket Council tournament.

"I want to improve further as an allrounder and continue to be match-winner for Eurocon."
