Hyderabad: Australia held on for a thrilling victory over India in the fifth one-day international Thursday despite a heroic 175 from Sachin Tendulkar.

India seemed to be heading towards the second-highest run-chase in ODI history but Tendulkar's dismissal, off his 143rd delivery, prompted a collapse that ultimately left it three runs short of victory.

India is now 3-2 behind in the seven-match series.

Earlier an outstanding 145-run opening partnership between Shane Watson (93) and Shaun Marsh (112) led Australia to an imposing total of 350-4 in 50 overs.
