Budding cricketers steal show in Ramada Cup

Ajman: Two budding cricketers Fahad Nawaz and Mohammad Ali Mirza lit up the Ramada Gulf Cup Twenty20 Cricket tournament with a mammoth unbroken opening stand of 180 runs to ensure Young Talent Cricket Academy (YTCA) Seniors an emphatic 65 runs victory over Emirates Avengers.

Fifteen-year-old Nawaz was more aggressive than his 19-year-old partner Mirza and went on to hit an unbeaten 107 off 70 balls with 11 boundaries and a six. Finding Nawaz going for his shots, Mirza played the supporting role and hit an unbeaten 63 off 50 balls with only four boundaries in the allotted 20 overs.

In another match, YTCA CFI pulled off a thrilling last-over victory over Royal Cricket Academy in the Under-19 division of the tournament. Royal Academy posted 116 for 6 in 20 overs but YTCA reached the target losing six wickets only with one ball to spare.

Exciting win

The Umm Al Quwain Cricket Association’s Mushtaq Premier League witnessed a superb century from UAE’s ICC 2015 World Cup player Krishna Chandran. He cracked 106 runs off just 56 deliveries to prove that he is in top form. His knock for Fanatics Cricket Club helped the team post 233 for 4 in 20 overs and restrict Emirates NBD to 212 for 8 for an exciting 21 runs win. Krishna also bagged two crucial wickets.

In another match, Vineet Narayan’s all-round performance gave Al Futtaim Honda a thrilling 15-run victory over Cricon Sports. Vineet after scoring a fine 52 runs to help Al Futtaim post 168 for 8, went on to take three wickets.

In a low scoring match, Taha CC (Advantage Motors LLC) ousted Premier Aces by nine wickets. Matiullaha pocketed four wickets to bundle out Premiem Aces for 84 before Faraz Ahmed scored a quickfire 60 to ensure Taha CC reached the target in 7.4 overs.
