Event will feature more than 70 exhibitors from a range of countries
Abu Dhabi : More than 70 exhibitors from various countries, including the UAE, Germany, France and the US, will be attending the Abu Dhabi International Sports Exhibition between April 9 and 12.
Held under the patronage of Shaikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, the second annual exhibition will take place at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) from 10am until 10pm.
Stretching across an area of 15,000-metre square, the exhibition is expected to attract hundreds of visitors as it will feature live shows, conferences, as well as various indoor and outdoor sports activities. Visitors can also shop for sports equipment from various suppliers who will be displaying their products at the exhibition.
Exhibitors include international sports brands, sports federations, clubs, governmental departments, event organisers, marketing agencies, and venues, among others.
Exhibition Manager, Nada Khamees, described the activities as “unique”, saying that many of them are being featured for the first time in Arab countries.
“People can find all sports under one umbrella, so instead of going here and there, they can just come to the exhibition and find everything,” she told Gulf News.
General Coordinator of the exhibition, Tony Mubarak, announced that there will be teams coming from other countries as well.
“We will organise a big number of sports activities and shows from the UAE and other countries. There will be freestyle football, freestyle trampolining, boxing, and a team called Crazy Dunkers from France,” Mubarak said.
He added that there will be rock-climbing, motorbike sports, and bungee-jumping from a height of 70 metres, among other activities, which are all open for visitors to try.
Those interested in more intellectual activities can attend conferences, as there will be three to four held every day where speakers will discuss a range of topics, such as developing women’s sports in the region; UAE preparations to host international sports events; importance of the media in promoting local sports; and safety in leisure sports.
Speakers at the conferences include Nada Zeidan, the first female GCC rally driver and archer in Asian games; Ian Walker, Olympic medallist and skipper of Abu Dhabi in the Volvo Ocean Race; Abdul Aziz Turki Al Faisal, Saudi Falcons race champion, among many others.
Entry tickets are priced at Dh10 per person per day.
