Abu Dhabi: Authorities in the emirate of Abu Dhabi have started sterilising buildings, salons, abattoirs and children’s play areas as part of the nation’s precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus COVID-19.

On Tuesday, Abu Dhabi Municipality announced that it implemented a sterilization campaign across all facilities frequently visited by the public, and has also intensified cleaning in other modes of transportation, such as the shuttles used in parks.

A total of five patients diagnosed with coronavirus COVID-19 have fully recovered, taking the total number of cured patients to 12, according to the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention.

The sterilization process has also been carried out in the Al Dhafrah and Al Ain region, with the campaign extended to cover parks, gardens and slaughterhouses, by using effective materials to kill bacteria and viruses.

On Monday, the Ministry of Health reported 14 new cases of coronavirus on Monday, bringing the total number of confirmed COVID-19 infections in the country to 59.
