Weekend watchlist: 10 TV shows and movies from Hollywood and Bollywood to check out

‘Sembi’ (UAE cinemas): A 10-year-old girl is molested by people with a lot of political clout and she and her grandmother, an tribal lady, face chaos in their lives. However, the grandmother won’t rest until she gets justice for her granddaughter.

‘Raangi’ (UAE cinemas): Trisha stars as Thaiyal Nayagi, a reporter who discovers her niece has a fake Facebook account and a 17-year-old boy from Libya has been chatting with her. The FBI wants to use Thaiyal and her niece as bait in order to arrest Aalim.

‘White Noise’ (Netflix): Adam Driver stars in this acclaimed movie that is both hilarious and horrifying. According to Netflix, “the film dramatises a contemporary American family’s attempts to deal with the mundane conflicts of everyday life while grappling with the universal mysteries of love, death, and the possibility of happiness in an uncertain world.”

‘The Glory’ (Netflix): This Korean drama sees actress Song Hye-kyo play a woman who puts an elaborate revenge scheme in motion in order to make her high school bullies pay for the horrific abuse they put her through. ‘The Glory’ will be directed by Ahn Gil-ho.

‘Shotgun Wedding’ (UAE cinemas): Jennifer Lopez and Josh Duhamel play couple Darcy and Tom, who get their families together for a destination wedding in the Philippines. However, things go south when the party gets taken hostage.

'The Good Doctor’ (Starzplay): Freddie Highmore excels in this much-loved TV show ‘The Good Doctor’, where he plays Dr Shaun Murphy, a gifted surgical resident who is on the autism spectrum.

‘The Patient’ (Disney+): Steve Carell plays therapist Alan Strauss, who gets held prisoner by his patient Sam Fortner (played by Domhnall Gleeson), who is a serial killer. Sam wants Alan to help fix his urge to kill.

‘Avatar’ (Disney+): The sequel has been bringing in the big bucks in cinemas. If you haven’t watched the first movie, then check it out on streaming. The big-budget movie follows a tribe of Na’vi that live on a moon called Pandora. However, the activities of humans threatens their existence.

‘The Devil Wears Prada’ (Disney+): Skip the festive events and curl up at home with this classic comedy-drama. Anne Hathaway plays Andy, a fresh graduate who comes to New York to become the assistant of a ruthless magazine editor Miranda Priestly (played brilliantly by Meryl Streep).

‘Dexter: New Blood’ (Starzplay): ‘Dexter: New Blood’ (Starzplay): Everyone’s favourite TV serial killer returns to take a stab at a new storyline. Dexter Morgan, played by Michael C Hall, has started a new life for himself years after faking his own death back home in Miami. However, his urge to kill hasn’t completely gone away.
