Diwali 2020: From Soha Ali Khan to Sanjay Dutt's Dubai trip, here's how Bollywood celebrates festival of lights

Bollywood breaks new ground for Diwali 2020 with subdued celebrations and a focus on family. But that doesn’t mean all the glamour has seeped out of Tinsel Town – here’s how the stars are saving the festival, one celebration at a time.

Mommy-to-be Kareena Kapoor Khan attended a pre-Diwali bash at her manager Poonam Damania’s home in Mumbai on Tuesday. Kareena's mother, Babita, and close friend, Masaba Gupta, were also there. Damania shared photos from the party, writing: “Grateful for each day. No better way to enter the festive season than with my favourites #babitakapoor @kareenakapoorkhan @masabagupta.”

According to media reports actor Sanjay Dutt will have a low-key celebration in Dubai with his family this year. The superstar wants to spend some quality time with the family before he returns to the sets of ‘KGF 2’."

This Diwali will be really special for Vikrant Massey as he just bought his dream home. His entire family, including to-be bride Sheetal Thakur, will mark the festival together. He was last seen in web film ‘Ginny Weds Sunny’.

Actress Bhumi Pednekar, who has launched an environment protection initiative called ‘Climate Warrior’, has come up with an innovative idea this Diwali to gift gifting saplings to her industry friends and colleagues. “The reason behind gifting saplings to my family, friends, and colleagues comes from a very simple thought of spreading green joy on Diwali. I am a climate warrior and while I absolutely love the spirit of Diwali, the festivities and gifting our near and dear ones, I thought this year I should start by changing the way I give gifts to people.” Pednekar said.

On the day of Diwali, Pednekar posted festive wishes for her fans wearing a stunning pink and purple ensemble. She said: "Wearing my mummy’s saree today :) #RecycleReuseReduce"

Hasee Toh Phasee, actress Adah Sharma will be having a working Diwali because she will be busy shooting for her next film in Mussoorie. "Yes, (it will be a ) working diwali. For me that's the best kind of diwali! If I'm home I eat homemade chocolate modaks but this time I won't be celebrating at home," Adah told IANS. "I will be shooting for my next Bollywood film during Diwali in Mussoorie. I've also shot a short film for Diwali which will be releasing soon," informed the actress, who has "Commando 3" lined up.

According to media report Arjun Kapoor will celebrate Diwali with Saif Ali Khan, Jacqueline Fernandez as they shoot for ‘Bhoot Police’ in Himachal Pradesh. Arjun revealed that the team of ‘Bhoot Police’ will take a day off from shoot for celebration to have a basic get-together.

Actor-producer Tusshar Kapoor said that there will be no Diwali party in his house this year. The reason is his father, yesteryears star Jeetendra, was a close friend of actor Rishi Kapoor, who died in April 2020. For the Kapoors the Festival of Lights is all about spending time with family this year.

Amitabh Bachchan and his family host a grand Diwali party every year but it looks like they are skipping tradition. Apart from being conscious about living in times of the pandemic, the Bachchans are mourning the death of a family member, Ritu Nanda, who was Shweta Bachchan‘s mother-in-law, and close friend Rishi Kapoor .

Janhvi Kapoor is in a festive mood. Looking pretty in pink, she captioned her sari pic: “Diwali is almost here!”

Mouni Roy is quite active on social media and keeps fans posted about her day-to-day activities. On Monday, she took to Instagram to share stunning pictures of herself wearing traditional attire. The actress looked stunning in red ethnic wear.

'Hasee Toh Phasee' actor Sidharth Malhotra kept it classy but colourful for his special Diwali outfit.

Superstar Akshay Kumar had a special Diwali gift for fans on Saturday. He announced his new project, titled ‘Ram Setu’. The film will be directed by Abhishek Sharma. Kumar shared two posters of his just-announced project, one in Hindi and the other in English. The English poster is taglined, “Myth or Reality?”
