Bollywood star Deepika Padukone is the latest to join the cameo brigade after Shah Rukh Khan’s appearance in 'Brahmastra'

There’s something to be said about those glimpses of a favourite star's unexpected cameo when tuned in to a movie. It could be a significant appearance, such as the recent one by Shah Rukh Khan in ‘Brahmastra: Part One — Shiva’ or Salman Khan in ‘'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' , or comical — such as the ones by Stan Lee in the Marvel movies. Here’s a look at some unforgettable shots featuring big stars in Bollywood films.

Shraddha Kapoor’s guest appearance in Varun Dhawan’s 'Bhediya' song ‘Thumkeshwari’ was celebrated by her fans as she has been on a hiatus from the silver screen. Kapoor said she would be seen in 'Stree 2' next, and shared her excitement in being part of Dinesh Vijan’s horror comedy in a behind-the-scenes clip of the song.

Anushka Sharma is gearing up for her comeback to Bollywood after having taken a break when her daughter was born. As fans wait for her movie 'Chakda Xpress', the actress was seen in an unexpected cameo in Anvitaa Dutt’s ‘Qala’. The short scene shows Anushka in a black-and-white montage, playing the yesteryear-avatar of an actress in the 1940s lip-syncing a song sung by the protagonist Qala Manjushree. The movie, which stars Tripti Duimri as Qala and Irrfan Khan's son Babil, was produced by Anushka’s brother Karnesh.

‘Brahmastra: Part One — Shiva’, which features newlyweds Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, having collected over Dh 191 million(approx) was also the most searched film in India. But what’s making more waves than the star couple is the appearance of Shah Rukh Khan in a 20-minute segment. Fans are so enamoured with Khan’s character, Dr Mohan Bhargav, that they want to see a spin-off that centres on him. Reports are also surfacing that we may get a new chapter that throws the spotlight on Khan’s character.

While Ranveer Signh played to his strengths with his ‘Cirkus’ stunts, it was his off-screen wife who stole the show. The couple are known for their great chemistry on and off-screen. Padukone also appeared as Kapil Dev’s wife in which Singh immortalized the cricketer’s historic win in '83'.

Veteran Bollywood actor couple Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan had a significant scene in this 2016 romantic drama ‘Ki & Ka’, starring Kareena Kapoor and‎ Arjun Kapoor in the leads. In their cameo, the Bachchans played a couple who invited Arjun’s character for lunch in order to praise him for being a good husband to Kareena’s character.

Late actor Sushant Singh Rajput had a small appearance in Aamir Khan and Anushka Sharma’s 2014 comedy ‘PK’. In it, Rajput played a character named Sarfraz Yousuf who is Sharma’s romantic interest. In the film, their love faces opposition, Rajput’s character perseveres and they find each other once again.

When it came to extended cameos that left a mark, Salman Khan hit it out of the park in 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai'. He played Anjali’s (Kajol) adorable fiancé and he may not have got the girl at the end, but he won the hearts of the audience. For this role, he also received the Filmfare Award for best supporting actor. It was a gamble that paid off.

Rajinikanth rocked in the sci-fi adventure 'Ra One'. He played the robot Chitti and won our hearts with his small but significant role. His cameo proved that some star wattage can go a long way in impressing viewers.

Some cameos are heart-touching and Jimmy Sheirgill’s appearance as Zaheer Ali in ‘Munna Bhai MBBS’ is one of those. Even though he is a cancer patient, Zaheer is convinced that Munna (Sanjay Dutt) can cure him of his terminal illness. While the efforts to save Zaheer fail, Sheirgill’s acting made the character memorable.

Hrithik’s appearance in 'Don' was one that shocked fans. Shah Rukh Khan plays an antagonist in the movie, and the cameo is a scene where Don (SRK) is wearing a mask to escape from police. The masked face is that of Hrithik Roshan, a very realistic mask at that.
