Bollywood power couple Kajol and Ajay Devgn celebrate 22 years of marriage

It’s not uncommon to hear about actors divorcing – but it is rare to read about couples being together for decades and still being fond of each other.

One such duo is Ajay Devgn and Kajol, who’ve been married for 22 years and have two kids: Nysa and Yug Devgn.

Ajay Devgn and Kajol married on February 24, 1999. On their wedding anniversary, ‘Drishyam’ actor Devgan posted a photo of a ‘special edition’ beverage bottle and a sketch of the couple. He wrote: 'Battled in 1999, only edition'.

Meanwhile, Kajol in her usual witty manner had the sweetest anniversary wish for her husband. She posted a throwback picture of them, where she is looking at him with love. She borrowed an anonymous quote for the caption and wrote: "'And you sir, you're very attractive. Therefore, I will stare at you! - Anonymous and Me. #22years #stillgoing #grateful #laughingalways

Did you know? Both actors were in relationships with OTHER people when they first met on the sets of their movie ‘Hulchul’ (1995). Initially, Devgn thought Kajol too loud and she thought he was stuck up, but then something clicked. They struck up a friendship that has endured.

Talking about what drew her to Devgn, Kajol said in an interview that he came across as extremely ‘stable and solid’. “I remember, I was having problems with my boyfriend and I was telling him about it. He was sitting over there like one great big guruji and babaji, giving me his sage advice as to what I should do and how I should treat the situation at that point of time,” she had said.

In another interview, Kajol explained that there was no ‘proposal’ when the couple were together. There was an understanding that they’d be together.

Kajol and Devgn have worked together in a number of films such as ‘Pyar to Hona hi Tha’ and ‘U Me Aur Hum’. They were last seen on screen together in ‘Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior’

They are on the same page about media – they don’t want paparazzi around. They lied about their wedding dates and got married in a quiet function on Devgn’s terrace.
