The Link: Dubai's new architectural novelty, with a mega steel structure linking twin towers

Zabeel One, with a 9,000-tonne horizontal steel structure, called The Link, will add to the numerous architectural novelties and distinctive silhouettes of the Dubai skyline.

"The Link" is a 228-meter horizontal steel bridge connecting the $1 billion One Za'abeel Twin Towers project of state-owned developer Ithra Dubai.

The first of six pieces/slides that will eventually form "The Link” between Dubai’s next two super-towers — the One Za’abeel — is ready on site. The plan is to have all six “slides” ready by March 2020.

The bridge will be the longest cantilever in the world, according to developer Ithra Dubai.

A section, measuring more than 60 meters, will extend beyond the towers into open sky.

The hollow eye building, known as the "Museum of the Future", add to the list of striking architectural designs in Dubai.

The Link steel structure will link (at a height of 100 metres) the twin towers Dubai of 300 metres and 235 metres in height, respectively.

LOCATION. The $1 billion One Za'abeel project, designed by Japanese architects Nikken Sekkei, will resemble a giant capital "H" rising near the Dubai World Trade Centre and Dubai's business district — and not far from the expansive greenery of the Zabeel Park.

ABOVE A FLYOVER: The construction of The Link poses a technical challenge as it takes place over a six-lane highway — a flyover — which had to be closed for critical moments during the construction process.

"The Link" will have accommodate airborne pools and spa facilities.
