What to do to make sure a lost Emirates ID isn’t misused

What can residents do to ensure a lost Emirates ID is not misused (“Indian expat’s ID used to get six mobile numbers”, Gulf News, May 8)? I work with the human resource department of a company and I know that if an employee loses a card, he or she can apply for it to be reissued. But what can employees do to make sure the lost card is not misused?

The person should immediately call the Emirates ID authority’s tollfree number to report the loss of the card, in addition to launching a police complaint.
