UAE GOVERNMENT’S VISION FOR NEXT 10 YEARS VERY REASSURING: The launch of “We the UAE 2031” vision in the UAE yesterday provides a clear roadmap for the future of the country over the next 10 years. The sharp focus on social and economic development will no doubt enhance the position of the UAE as a global player, even as the ‘Forward Society’ pillar will help society prosper, with citizens being given due support and an integrated system being developed to empower them. UAE’s updated 2031 economic plans set out clear goals for the country and all its stakeholders to aspire to. One aspect is crystal clear – be among the top 10 nations when it comes to attracting global talent. Because when it comes to elevating the non-oil economy for further rounds of growth, expanding the base of talent on call has to be part of that equation. It should not matter whether that talent is sourced locally or brought in. Because what they deliver collectively can only benefit the UAE economy. That is the goal in sight. ENGLAND CAPTAIN KANE A DOUBT FOR HUGE US CLASH: There are concerns over the availability of England captain Harry Kane for the team’s huge Group B FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 clash on Friday against the United States. The striker is set to have a scan on his right ankle today after he picked up an injury in their opener against Iran. Tottenham star Kane, who did not score in the 6-2 rout, sustained a blow early in the second half of the match to his right ankle and had to be substituted. The 29-year-old is one of the key men in Gareth Southgate’s side and England fans will be desperate to see him take to the pitch. If he does miss out then Southgate has plenty of talent in reserve what with Callum Wilson pushing for a place. In a riveting masterclass at the on-going 53rd edition of International Indian Film Festival in Goa, to which Gulf News has been invited to cover, Siddiqui gave a no-frills crash course in how to make it big in Bollywood with sheer grit and gumption. "Money has never excited me. I have been so poor that I am confident that even if I lose it all today, I will know how to survive. Money should never be the reason why you want to get into the world of acting," cautioned Siddiqui. He had worked as a chemist and a watchman, before he found fame in Bollywood.
