COP28 IS A PIVOTAL CALL FOR GLOBAL UNITY: As the COP28 conference commences, it issues a resounding call to the global community, transcending its role as a mere event to become a crucial link in the ongoing saga of our planet's survival. Amidst converging threats, nations need to collaborate, since stability and peace require collective efforts across borders. While borders are integral, the true custodian of our future is the health of our shared planet. The challenges we face are interconnected, and nations must work together for its greater good. COP28 is a clarion call for collaboration and unity, emphasising our collective existence's inseparable link to the health and well-being of our fragile Earth, marking a pivotal chapter in humanity's quest for sustainability. WHAT DEVELOPING ECONOMIES NEED IS GREEN FUNDING – AND NO STRINGS: At COP28, new targets will be set to take on the imposing challenges that climate change has brought on. Tweaks will be made to targets that have been set at previous editions of the UN-backed sustainability series. But something much more deep-rooted needs to be done – that of making enough funds available to help less privileged economies make the transition towards greener ways of consuming energy. Making funds available contingent to these nations making progress will not help any. Open-ended financial support without strings attached is possibly the only way to make things work. RANBIR KAPOOR TAPS INTO HIS DARK AND SAVAGE SIDE IN NEW FILM: If you are easily triggered and have a rocky relationship with your father, then 'Animal' is not for you, declared its lead actor Ranbir Kapoor. As far as drumming up buzz for a film, this opening strategy where you don't go the usual route of peddling your films with all your might, will draw you in. Kapoor, who's known for mostly doing endearing, benign, and vanilla roles of an endearing man-child in most of his movies, is now collaborating with one of India's most polarising directors, Sandeep Reddy Vanga of 'Kabir Singh' fame. This director is known to glorify misogyny and idealise violent courtship as love, but Kapoor believes that movies are for entertainment. Art should upset and provoke, believes the actor.
