Spare a thought for workers

While the Eid Al Adha and National Day holidays are a time for most to relax, kick back and enjoy time with family and friends, that isn't the case for all.

During the week-long celebrations, there is a legion of workers who do not have the luxury of gathering with loved ones, sharing time with friends, and miss the opportunity of recharging their batteries.

Workers in fields such as emergency services, the health sector, transportation and the hospitality sectors do not have the luxury of being able to take time off.

These workers provide essential services that keep modern societies running, allowing those of us who are off the opportunity to be able to enjoy it fully.

These unsung heroes of the workplace deserve our recognition for manning their posts over this holiday season.

Spare a thought for those who have to work and offer them your heart-felt thanks. They deserve it.
