Ex-Jharkhand chief minister Koda should be put away for a long time if found guilty
Should the judiciary be able to mete out speedy justice then it looks like the end of the road for former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda.
Accused of embezzling hundreds of millions of dollars in a mine-lease scam, Koda tried to evade the law by using every trick in the book, but was eventually apprehended.
Koda is not the best endorsement for India's democratic process but in order to restore the people's faith in the system, vis-à-vis the unlimited immunity enjoyed by politicians, he should — if found guilty — be put away for a long time.
Koda claims the charges against him are the result of political vendettas and he knows a thing or two about the art of politics. It is true that he is not the only one involved which is why a thorough investigation must be carried out to identify the major players in the Jharkhand scam. The corrupt must be isolated from power.
