Step 1: Apply for your child's passport

If you wish to stay in the UAE, you would need to apply for a residence or visit visa. If you wish to leave the UAE, you would need to contact your embassy to find out about repatriation flights.

What is an outpass?

An outpass or emergency certificate is an emergency travel document issued by the embassy or consulate of your home country.

The emergency certificate issued by the Indian embassy or consulate is only valid for 15 days.

Applying for a passport for the newborn is advisable.

In the UAE, parents have 120 days to arrange for a visa for a newborn, after which overstay fines are applied.

Option 1: Apply for a residence visa

If the sponsor has a valid residence visa, he or she can apply for a newborn's residence visa.

In Abu Dhabi, you can apply for a newborn's residence visa at a typing centre.

The same process applies for Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah.

Option 2: Apply for a visit visa - if your visa is cancelled, and you wish to stay for longer in the UAE, you can apply for a visit visa.

If your employer has not yet cancelled your visa, after your employment contract has ended, you can try to reach an amicable solution and request for an extension on the visa.
