Mumbai-based designer Shaahid Amir may have worked with celebrities such as Aamir Khan and Saif Ali Khan, but dressing a political figure like Shashi Tharoor for his wedding celebrations in Dubai was a different ball game altogether.
"It was very exciting, because we were not trying to make a fashion statement here. He has such a distinguished personality that his inherent style had to be kept in mind. Less was more for him," said Amir in an interview with tabloid! ahead of the high-profile Tharoor-Sunanda Pushakar wedding celebrations in Dubai, which started Sunday.
Amir, 46, designed the four principal outfits for the event. "Tharoor is not much into fashion, but he is always preferred hand-woven Indian fabrics," he said.
"We have used quite a bit of that."
