October 24 this year was observed as ‘Make A Difference Day’. On the fourth Saturday of October, millions of volunteers around the world unite in a common mission to improve the lives of others. The initiative started by USA TODAY 24 years ago, backed by the Gannett Company and TEGNA Inc. in collaboration with the organisation Points of Light, became the largest national day of community service in the US. Now on Twitter and other social media channels, people across the globe mark this day by helping others or volunteering for community service.
